Street Children Support Workers: Placements Available 18 May 2008
We are looking for Street Children Support Workers to come and volunteer at the centre to assist us with the care and rehabilitation of the Street Children. By living in our Interim Care Centre (ICC), volunteers are given the unique opportunity to fully intergrate with the children and staff whilst gaining an invaluable insight into the work of a small NGO. 2007 was another great year for Action for Children in Conflict in Kenya. We continued to be a very effective organisation in both prevention and rehabilitation of street children, contributing to a 40% plus reduction in the numbers of street children in Thika Town since we started our programmes in 2004 (Street Census 2007). Deterioration of the situation in Kenya 10 Feb 2008
News from our Kenya Programme Director has highlighted the extent of the
violence in Kenya and the devastating effect it has had and continues to
have on many children and families. There are over 2000 displaced people in the Thika District now, and this number is growing every day. [more]

Choir Concert raises over £1600 10 Feb 2008
We are pleased to announce that the concert featuring the Swindon and
Wantage Male Voice Choirs on 19th January was a huge success with over 130 people in attendance. [more]

AfCiC Launches Kenya Emergency Appeal 11 Jan 2008
We are launching an emergency appeal in response to the widespread fighting and rise in inter-tribal tension unleashed in Kenya over the results of the recent Presidential Elections, which are having a devastating effect on the country and have drastically impacted our programmes there. We desperately require funds for the practical and immediate needs generated by this humanitarian crisis: food, clothing, shelter, counselling and support facilities to help children cope with the trauma resulting from the crisis. AfCiC Kenya Holiday Club 20 Nov 2007
In August 2007 AfCiC Kenya ran two holiday clubs at our partner primary schools St Patricks and Garissa Road, for over 280 pupils. [more]
